Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them. - Matthews 13:34
There are many parables in the New Testament. Jesus used these stories 2000 years ago to drive home messages that are not only relevant today but marvellous food for the hearts and souls. Take the parable of the sower. Some seeds fell on the wayside and be trodden and died, some will be picked up by birds and insects. Only those that have fallen on good ground will grow and bear fruits.
This parable tells us that God need volunteers to be His servant to sow His seeds. Can we volunteer our time and resources to serve our Lord as His sower of His words? He shared with us that some of our efforts will fall on deaf ears. Others who may have heard but would be influenced by worldly attractions and be blinded. Only those that God have spoken and prepared them for the message, would grow into His likeness and bear witness to the faith, truth and divine love. We should not be discouraged by those who do not believe but continue to pray for them and push forward in His service. We are to tell the stories and leave the buying-in to the Lord.
A good way to learn God's truth is to teach it to others.
