DB - Sunday 8th February 09 - Breathless

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your Glory be above all the  earth. - Psalm 57 : 5

Having travelled and visited places of interest and attraction, one could not but give  praises to  the Creator of these natural fantastic scenic sights. Even at home, observing the sunrise in the East and sunset in the West would give the sense of awesomeness in God. Yes, at times we are breathless in all that we have in this earth.

In adoring God for His greatness would reinforce in us the responsibility to serve Him in earnest and in truth. If He can create such wonders in this world, He surely can uphold us in His Name and use us mightily for His purpose. No task is too small nor unimportant in His sake. Little by little, the efforts undertaken by us will all contribute to the glory of our Lord. We earnestly must deliver and make a difference in the lives of others by our contribution of words, deeds and thoughts.. Yes, we are called to serve God not by our merits but by His love, in His love and with His love. Be God be the Glory.

All creation is an outstretched finger pointing toward God.

DB - Saturday 7th February 09 - Temporary Delight

Your law is my delight. - Psalm 119 : 174

Happiness is what everyone look for. For some, a carefree attitude is what makes them happy. Free from care would temporary give us a false impression that all is well. Unfortunately, life is never to be like this. A lapsed moment of care when driving would lend us in a serious accident.  A lapse in our choice of words, would invite endless verbal abuse. A lapse in our eating would result in   having unhealthy bodies.  A lapse......the list can go on and on.

In any game if there is no rules and regulations, the efforts will never be enjoyed both by players and spectators. A country cannot afford to have rules and laws that cannot be enforced. A social club or any organisation without any settled procedure and regulations will result in a free for all and total chaos.

We Christians too have to follow God's commandments and have delight in them. God's law established the respect and adoration for us towards Him. When God's laws are closely followed, we shall be free from punishment and never to worry about any wrong doing. Just like keeping within the legal speed limit on the roads, we are sure to be saved and can enjoy the ride in peace and comfort.

Sail on then my brothers and sisters in Christ, keep within God's commandments and we shall  have peace and comfort all the way till we rest at Jesus' feet.

God take delight in us - how can we help but delight in Him?

DB - Friday 6th February 2009 - Rise Up!

You were at one time spiritually dead because of your sins and because you were Gentiles without the Law. But God has now brought you to life with Christ. God forgive us all our sins. - Colossians 2:13

We may have experienced sad moments or events that could  crash us spiritually. Loss of a loved one or our wealth have suffered, a serious illness, a loss of a career or even a loss of a long time friendship. Where do we find  comfort, to whom can we turn to?

No matter what our troubles are, Jesus will see us through. He can rebuild our lives if we adhere to His voice, answer His call, take up His cross and follow Him. No sin is too horrible for our Lord. To those who are willing to confess, Jesus will readdress. He will restore both the software and hardware that we need to move forward. It is not easy to forget but by forgiving, we can overcome any pain and hurt no matter how deep is the cut. SRU - So Rise UP!.

Jesus came and died for our sins so that we can have life to it's fullest and in abundance.

God can turn any difficulty into an opportunity.

DB - Thursday 5th February 2009 - The Search For Peace

The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds. - Philippians 4:7

During this Lunar New Year's festivity, it is beautiful to catch up with friends and relatives whom we do not often meet. We greet each other with great affection and joy. It is also an opportunity for us to make new friends. We enjoy the fellowship of each gathering and when the party ends, unfortunately we come to nought if we do not take steps to renew our fellowship. At times, remembrance of some conversations, may bring to us favourable memories but at times, some pain and misery. There is no guarantee that all those we meet will protect and respect us.

The world cannot offer to us the peace that could surpasses all understandings. Only our Lord Jesus can. The peace of God that is free can be experienced to those who seek Him with sincerity and love. By the grace of God, we will be covered by His Holy Spirit that will not only provide us the calm and peace within but everlasting confidence.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. - Jesus

DB - Wednesday 4th February 2009 - The Great Storyteller

Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them. - Matthews 13:34

There are many parables in the New Testament. Jesus used these stories 2000 years ago to drive home messages that are not only relevant today but marvellous food for the hearts and souls. Take the parable of the sower. Some seeds fell on the wayside and be trodden and died, some will be picked up by birds and insects. Only those that have fallen on good ground will grow and bear fruits.

This parable tells us that God need volunteers to be His servant to sow His seeds. Can we volunteer our time and resources to serve our Lord as His sower of His words?  He shared with us that some of our efforts will fall on deaf ears. Others who may have heard but would be influenced by worldly attractions and be blinded. Only those that God have spoken and prepared them for the message, would grow into His likeness and bear witness to the faith, truth and divine love. We should not be discouraged by those who do not believe but continue to pray for them and push forward in His service. We are to tell the stories and leave the buying-in to the Lord.

A good way to learn God's truth is to teach it to others.

DB - Tuesday 3rd February 2009 - A Refresher Course On God's Majesty

You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live. - Exodus 33:20

When we are disappointed, we tend to look for a reason that could carry the blame. We blame others always, for our misfortune, blame parents for been born into a lousy family, blame God when things go wrong. Blame everyone and everything except ourselves!

The truth is that we are too preoccupied with the issues of the problem but not the root of it. If one was to dug up a patch of grass, it is important to remove the roots too. Otherwise, soon the grass would reappear. It is important therefore that if we are hoping to get rid of a habit, be sure the roots and all related to it are disconnected. When trying to settle a problem, do not be distracted by issues that concerned pride and position. Plug our helpline to God's power for a refresher charge to enable us to face our tomorrow with hope, confidence and everlasting joy. Do not be worry what others may say, what God would say matters.

We should find time to worship God and read His words. God will bestow on us the riches of His love that surpasses all human understanding and grant to us faith when we place our hope and aspiration in His Hands.

To worship is to recognize the supreme worth of God.

DB - Monday 2nd February 2009 - Morning Star

So we are even more confident of the message proclaimed by the prophets. You will do well to pay attention to it, because it is like a lamp shining in a dark place until the Day dawns and the light of the morning star shines in your hearts - 2 Peter 1:19

When night falls, daylight would turn to darkness. For us living near the Equator, we have somewhat equal daylight and darkness almost throughout the whole year. In other countries, summer days would have longer sunlight. Nonetheless, when the clock strikes midnight, almost all would have fallen asleep. Our bodies need to rest and be still to recuperate and be recharged.

If we want to have love in our hearts, we too need to  take stock and recharge our love capacity to ensure that we would be able to remove hatred and prejudices. Like a lamp, we cannot hide behind any pretence. In darkness of wrong doings, we will even stand out more prominently as children of God. We are born in the image of our Father and there is no escape. We must remain consistent and shine forth both in the day and in the night. To serve Jesus is to carry His Cross. With the Cross before us, there is nothing in this world behind or around us that we should be worried about.

In a world full of speculations, only God's Word is certain.

DB - Sunday 1st February 2009 - God Is At Work

Because God is always at work in you to make you willing and able to obey His own purpose. - Philippians 2 : 13

This is a wonderful verse to reinstate in us the faith and hope in God. We know that by our own strength, we shall not be able to walk in the path of righteousness and would be weak to resist the temptations along the way. We know that we should never pluck the wild flowers by the road side. Knowing is one thing and not entertaining the thoughts of unrighteousness is the first step to obey God's commandments.

Don't do anything from selfish ambition or form a cheap desire to boast, but be humble towards one another, always considering others better than yourselves. And look out for one another's interests, not just for your own. : Phil 2: 3-4

To be humble is the mother of success. Humbleness will  restrain us from asserting one's position, power and status. In treating others as equal, we will contribute greatly to harmony and respect. We need to be that difference to separate us from the world as our bodies are the temple for our Lord's Holy Spirit.

The power that compels us comes from the Spirit who indwells us

DB - Saturday 31st January 2009 - A Breach In The Wall

Everything that belongs to the world - what the sinful self desires, what people see and want, and everything in this world that people are proud of - none of this comes from the Father. - 1 John 2:16

Parents send their children to Christian Schools believing that their child will benefit from the high moral and right values prescribed in these schools. They are right. I can testify that from my early education in SAS & ACS have built in me the values that laid the foundation for my life. Though I have regrets and misjudgements, my days are mostly encouraging and with peace and joy.

As we look towards to new Lunar 'Niu' Year, our hope and desire must be pure and wholesome. In relationship, the wall that separate us from temptation cannot have a breach nor should it be build on hypothetical and insincerity. We must admit that by our own strength, we could not withstand the attraction of the wrong kind. We are not to love the world or anything that belongs to the world. When we love anything that belongs to the world, we will have no time to love our Father. Look into the direction of our Lord and let His Spirit help us to be discerning over the things that we have and what we wish.

The world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

DB - Friday 30th January 2009 - Planting Time

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. - Galatians 6 :7

We cannot  expect to harvest  apples if we planted a coconut tree. When we planted apple tree, it need to be nurtured and cared for in order to have it's best fruits. Likewise, we cannot expect to have good friends when we do not love them.

There is a strong demand  on us to match up to the norms and standards of this world. At the end, we must be responsible of all our actions. In time of financial hardship, we can be comfortable if we have been thrifty in the past. Even if we are comfortable, it is time to reorganise and identify our needs from necessities. In financial management, we cannot spend beyond our budget. To be in debt is one of the sure way to live in anxiety and frustration.

We do not know what holds tomorrow but if we allow our Lord to lead us, we will not be in more trouble than we need to bear.  Turn to Jesus and He will not only provide but ensure that our efforts dedicated to Him will have rich returns.

Sow today what you want to reap tomorrow.
